With a long and arduous night of work behind her, she decided to take the shortcut home. Down the twisting alleyways of London, her footsteps echoing off the endless rows of brick, a chill crept through her bones. Shadows followed her as her pace quickened, certain that a second set of footsteps were resonating off the walls. Her walk turned to a run, and pure terror coursed through her veins as the shadowy figure came into sight. Frantic, panicked, she took every turn possible in an attempt to lose the mysterious stalker until the cobblestones came to dead end. Nothing but the reflection of the moon off the blade and the silhouette of a top hat could be seen as the shadows finally consumed her.
“Deep within London a terror will rise! It leaps like the devil, and shares his same eyes. It’s cloak is pitch black, darker than night, bounding ‘cross buildings, leaving pure fright. The streets running red, all under attack, the demon, none other, than Spring Heeled Jack.” -18th Century Victorian Nursery Rhyme
